6-Week First Touch Block (U10–U12)
Six weeks dedicated to the most important technical skill in football: the first touch. For U10–U12 squads. A good first touch buys time and space; a poor one undoes everything that follows. Build it systematically.
📅How this block works
Run one focus per week across six weeks. Each week builds on the last, so by week six the concepts combine naturally in match play. Every week links to ready-to-run drills from the library — print the plan or share it to your team WhatsApp. Week six is always assessment: play, observe, and let the habits show.
Receiving on the ground
The fundamentals — cushioning the ball, the directional first touch, and opening the body to see the next pass.
First touch on the half-turn
Receiving with back to goal and turning in one movement. The skill that unlocks midfield play.
Aerial control
Bringing down a bouncing or dropping ball — chest, thigh, and instep cushion. Composure under a falling ball.
First touch under pressure
Add a defender. The touch that takes you away from pressure and into space — the difference-maker in a real game.
First touch to finish or pass
Linking the first touch to the next action — a touch that sets up a shot, a pass, or a dribble.
Match integration
Assessment week. One- and two-touch games where first touch quality is the whole point.
