Why this drill works

This drill uses the rondo specifically as a first-touch exercise, wit

How to run it

  1. 5v2 rondo in 12×12m square. Two-touch maximum for all outer players.
  2. Coach focus is exclusively on receiving player's first touch — clean? Directional? Opens body?
  3. After 5 minutes: reduce to one-touch for outer players. Forces body shape to be correct before ball arrives.
  4. For players struggling: briefly revert to two-touch while others continue one-touch.
  5. Final variation: outer players must play ball back in direction they received it — touch takes them across square.
