About

SimpleDrills.

Free football coaching drills, built and reviewed by a UK-based FA Level 2 coach.

What this is

SimpleDrills is a library of football coaching drills designed for grassroots coaches in the UK. Every drill includes a diagram you can scan in 30 seconds, an honest description of what works (and what doesn't), and tagging that's aligned to the FA's 2026-27 Future Fit framework.

The site is free and won't ask you to sign up. It's not affiliated with the FA — just aligned to it. Some pages contain Amazon affiliate links to relevant equipment and books; these are marked with an asterisk (*) and don't affect editorial content.

Why it exists

The existing online drill resources fall into three buckets: paywalled subscription sites, faceless content farms churning out generic listicles, and affiliate-driven pages written by people who don't actually coach. None of them are great for the volunteer with 45 minutes on a Sunday morning.

SimpleDrills is the resource I wanted when I started. Drills that work with mixed-ability kids, accommodate late arrivals, set up in 60 seconds, and don't require an interpretation degree.

The coach

An FA Level 2-qualified coach based in the UK. Currently coaches youth football at grassroots level. The drills speak for themselves.

Futsal content is also on the site, written by an FA Level 1 (futsal) coach. Futsal is at /futsal.

How drills are reviewed

Every drill on the site is used in real training sessions before it's published. A validator runs at build time and rejects any drill that conflicts with the FA's Future Fit framework — wrong ball size for age, heading drills tagged for U7–U11, age-format mismatches. If a drill doesn't work with chaos, mixed ability, or fluctuating numbers, it doesn't get a page.
