The one cue that matters
Commanding the area and communicating with defenders
◆Why this drill works
Reflex saves require a different training input than standard shot-stopping. The reaction time is so short that technique must be automatic. This drill overloads the GK's reflex system through rapid, unpredictable serves — the GK cannot anticipate direction, only react. Repeated exposure compresses

▶How to run it
- GK stands 3 yards off goal line in set position. Server stands 6 yards away.
- Server strikes or throws rapidly at different heights and sides — no pattern, no warning. GK reacts.
- 5-ball rapid sequence: serve immediately after each save or miss. GK has no rest between balls.
- After 5 balls: 30-second recovery. Repeat 4 times.
- Progress: server can use a partner. Two servers alternate without pattern.
