How to run it

  1. Striker at the penalty spot. Support player at the edge of the box.
  2. Striker passes to support player and immediately sprints into the penalty area.
  3. Support plays one-touch return. Striker receives on the run and shoots first-time.
  4. Alternate starting positions: from right channel, left channel, centrally.
  5. Progress: passive defender on support player who intercepts loose passes.

?Frequently asked questions

This drill suits U10–U14. Younger players can use a bigger target or closer range; older players should add a defender and a goalkeeper to increase the pressure.
How many players do I need for One-Two and Shoot?
This drill works well with around 12 players. With fewer, reduce the groups or rotate players through; with more, set up multiple stations so everyone stays active rather than queuing.
How long does One-Two and Shoot take?
Allow around 3 minutes to set up and 12 minutes to run it — about 15 minutes in total. It fits well as the technical or main block of a session, leaving time for a warm-up and a game.
