Why this drill works

This drill installs three named routines (Straight, Curl, Layoff) so the team can adapt based on what the goalkeeper and wall ar

How to run it

  1. Set up free kicks at three positions: 22 yards central, 20 yards left channel, 25 yards right channel.
  2. Routine STRAIGHT: kicker drives ball through or over wall. No decoy. Technique focus: full instep, through centre of ball.
  3. Routine CURL: kicker bends ball around wall with outside of foot (left footer curls right, right footer curls left). Wall acts as the block.
  4. Routine LAYOFF: kicker runs over ball. Second player arrives and plays first-time into corner away from wall movement.
  5. All three routines practised from all three positions. Name before execution every time.
