Why this drill works

Squad rotation drill that teaches positional movement within a 5v5 shape. Players rotate through all five positions (GK, two defenders, two attackers) every few minutes so every player experiences every role. Builds spatial awareness and prevents early positional locking.

How to run it

  1. Play 5v5 for 4 minutes.
  2. On the whistle, every player on both teams rotates one position clockwise (e.g. GK → right back → right forward → left forward → left back → GK).
  3. Repeat. Every player ends up in every position over 25 minutes.
  4. Coach circulates with a simple rotation card — confirm each player knows their next position before each whistle.
