Why this drill works

A passing square warm-up combines movement, passing accuracy, and reactive decision-making. Three simultaneous squares keeps 12 players active at all times. The reactive element elevates it above a simple passing circuit.

How to run it

  1. Four players per 10x10m square. One ball per square. Players at each corner.
  2. Free passing: no pattern — pass to anyone who calls for the ball.
  3. Player follows their pass to the next corner. Square rotates direction.
  4. Add second ball: two balls simultaneously. Forces heads up.
  5. Final 2 minutes: one passive defender in the middle. Can only intercept.
