Futsal 2v2 End Zones
Wet weather forces you indoors.
◆Why this drill works
Wet weather forces you indoors. Most coaches default to 'just play 5-a-side', which wastes the unique benefits of the hard floor: pace, control, and constant decision-making. This 2v2 with end-zone scoring (no goals — pass into a teammate stationed in the end zone) prioritises passing-receiving under tight pressure, exactly what futsal is famous for developing. Studies (Lago-Peñas et al., 2014) consistently link futsal exposure to improved 1v1 ability in 11-a-side football.
▦The drill in three phases
▶How to run it
- 2v2 inside the play area, one target player per team in their end zone.
- Score: pass into your target player, they must control it inside the zone.
- Target player can pass back into play but cannot leave the zone.
- Rotate target player every 90 seconds so everyone gets work.
- Use feet only initially; progress to allowing first-touch off the wall (futsal-style).
