◆Why this drill works
At U12–U14, many technically capable players hesitate in front of goal — they wait for a better angle, take one touch too many, or pass when a shot was available. The 2v1 rush removes the option to wait: the defender is recovering, the GK is set, and the window closes with every second. Training the instinct to shoot at the first quality opportunity — not the perfect one — produces more goals per match.
▦The drill in three phases
1Setup
Starting positions — players, zones and equipment in place.
2Action
Movement begins — players run, dribble and create the pattern.
3Finish
The end action — pass, shot or outcome the drill builds toward.

▶How to run it
- A1 starts with the ball. A2 is their support runner. D starts 5m behind both — recovering defender.
- On 'go': all three sprint toward goal. A1 drives at goal with the ball, A2 makes a run to the back post.
- A1 must shoot before D gets within 2m. If A1 can't shoot, they play to A2 who finishes first time.
- GK must stay on line until A1 enters the penalty area.
- After each sequence: rotate roles (A1 → A2 → D → A1). Run 9 sequences per group.
- Competitive element: track each attacker's conversion rate over 3 sequences as A1.
