The one cue that matters
Building intensity progressively, not going flat out too early
◆Why this drill works
Generic interval running produces generic fitness. Football fitness is about repeated high-intensity efforts with brief recovery — exactly the pattern of a match. This drill replicates that pattern with the ball, so the cardiovascular adaptation transfers directly to match performance rather than just to running tests. It's the right pre-season fitness work for weeks 5–6 — too demanding for weeks 1–2 but appropriate as the season approaches.

- During the 30 seconds: water, walk, breathe. No coaching, no debrief. Rest is rest.
