About set piece drills
Most grassroots teams concede their set-piece goals to organisation, not skill. A team that practises corner routines wins corners; a team that practises defensive shape concedes fewer of them. The drills below are designed for whole-team work — they need 11+ players at peak. For smaller groups, run the patterns with reduced numbers and rotate roles.
Set piece session kit
Set piece sessions need full-size or 7v7 goals, a decent supply of balls for repeated corners and free kicks, and bibs for the defending and attacking teams.
