U8 Shooting and Goals Galore
U8s love scoring goals more than anything. This is the session built around that — every drill ends in a shot, every kid scores at least 10 times.

End the warm-up with 'kangaroo shots' — kids jump twice (kangaroo style) then take a shot at a mini-goal. Themes the warm-up to the session. Joy guaranteed.
Full 12-minute version. Add the weaker-foot rule at minute 6 and the 'all four goals' competition at minute 9. Track scores aloud — kids love hearing the count.
A stretch challenge for U8s — but the drill works because the technical demand IS scaffolded (receive cone is close, no defender). Pair the more confident kids together, the less confident with the coach as server. Every kid gets 4-6 reps. NO keeper at U8 — just a mini-goal.
Add a condition: 'every goal counts double if scored with the weaker foot'. Most U8s will try the weaker foot at least once; that's a win. End on free play.
Pull the kids in. 'Whose goal today was the best?' Let them vote with hands. Award an imaginary 'Goal of the Day' trophy to the winner. Costs nothing, kids LOVE it, and it ends every session on a positive moment regardless of overall performance.
Clear demonstrations and high energy. Keep the session moving with minimal queuing, and reinforce one or two key coaching points rather than overloading players with information.
Players standing in queues (set up enough stations to keep everyone active) and the session running too long on one activity (keep blocks tight and move on while engagement is high).
