Session blocks

1

Traffic Lights

The U7 warm-up. Use just three colours (red, amber, green). Don't overload with extras at this age. Keep your call energy high — you're the engine of the drill.

2

First-Touch Gates

Run only the basic version — no progressions. Each pair gets ~12 receiver reps. Don't overthink the technique; let the gate provide the feedback. If kids are getting it through 70%+ of the time, that's success.

3

3v3 Future Fit Game

The match. Future Fit format throughout — no GK, no offside, size 3 ball, no heading. Run as 4-minute games with 60-second resets. Reshuffle teams between games. End on a high — let them play to a final whistle, not a stopwatch.

4

Walking circle

All players in a circle, walking pace, ball at feet, slow passes around. Two minutes. Tell them one thing they did well today (group praise). Send them home smiling.

What you'll need from yourself

Clear demonstrations and high energy. Keep the session moving with minimal queuing, and reinforce one or two key coaching points rather than overloading players with information.

!Common problems

Players standing in queues (set up enough stations to keep everyone active) and the session running too long on one activity (keep blocks tight and move on while engagement is high).
