U15 Friday Sharpener
The night before a match. Don't tire them out — sharpen them up. 45 minutes of high-quality, low-volume work that leaves their legs fresh for Saturday.
The night before a match. Don't tire them out — sharpen them up. 45 minutes of high-quality, low-volume work that leaves their legs fresh for Saturday.
Standard warm-up; raise the technical demand. 1-touch passing only after minute 4. Keep tempo high but distance short — 6-yard pairs. Sharpens the foot speed without the running load.
Quick reps, short distance, defender starts at 4 yards (not 3). Goal: every player gets 6-8 reps with a clean first touch. Don't over-coach — Friday is about maintaining habits, not building new ones. If a player's first touch is off tonight, that's information for next week, not something to drill out tonight.
Single round, 8 minutes. Cap touches at 2. The rondo gets brains and feet sharp without legs running. Defenders rotate by losing the ball — keep rotations TIGHT (no slow walks back to position).
Three 4-minute games, 1-minute breaks. Conditions you'll use Saturday: 'first attack always tries the wide channel', 'goalkeeper distribution to wide players only'. Replicates Saturday's tactical theme. NO long sprints, NO gegenpressing-style SSGs the night before — keep effort medium-high, not maximum.
Standing only — walk through Saturday's two key set-piece routines (one attacking, one defending). 30 seconds each, no execution at speed. Embeds Saturday's plan in their heads while their legs cool down. Send them home reminded but not tired.
Clear demonstrations and high energy. Keep the session moving with minimal queuing, and reinforce one or two key coaching points rather than overloading players with information.
Players standing in queues (set up enough stations to keep everyone active) and the session running too long on one activity (keep blocks tight and move on while engagement is high).
