▦Session blocks
Third-man pattern warm-up
0 minA passes to B, B passes to C, C passes through the channel as A made a run. Three lines, three patterns. All players cycle. The third-man run concept delivered in 12 minutes of repetition.
Positional game 9+2 with zones
0 min9 positional players + 2 neutrals in a zonal 9v9 pitch. Neutral players always with the team in possession. Rule: must have players in at least 3 of the 4 zones before scoring. Forces positional occupation. Coach names the zones.
11v11 with rotation rule
0 minFull 11v11. One rule: when a player passes inside and moves, they must not stop in their own position. They fill the space the next player vacated. Constant positional rotation. Chaos at first, then suddenly fluid.
Free 11v11
0 minNo rules. Observe how much of the positional rotation has embedded without constraint.
Review
0 minThe third-man run: show one moment from the session where it worked. One where it didn't and what the player should have done instead.
◆What you'll need from yourself
Clear demonstrations and high energy. Keep the session moving with minimal queuing, and reinforce one or two key coaching points rather than overloading players with information.
!Common problems
Players standing in queues (set up enough stations to keep everyone active) and the session running too long on one activity (keep blocks tight and move on while engagement is high).
