⏱Session timeline
▦Session blocks
Individual skill reps
10 minEvery player picks one skill move and performs 20 reps in motion — moving toward cones, executing the move, accelerating away. No defenders yet. Perfect the execution before adding pressure.
Opposed 1v1 grid
15 minSix simultaneous 1v1 grids (15m x 5m). Attacker uses their chosen skill move to beat the defender and reach the end line. Full intensity defender. Rotate attacker and defender every 6 attempts.
Half-space carry drill
15 minCoach calls HALF-SPACE RIGHT or LEFT. Midfielder drives into the called channel. On entry: shoot, cut-back, or switch. Passive defenders initially, active defenders after 8 minutes.
9v9 with skill move scoring
15 min9v9. Goal after beating a defender with a skill move = 3pts. Standard goal = 1pt. Coach identifies and calls out skill move moments.
Review
5 minPlayers name their move. Which situations in the game called for it? Which called for a pass instead?
◆What you'll need from yourself
Confidence to attempt skill moves under genuine pressure. The 1v1 grid with a full-intensity defender is the key block — don't soften the defending.
!Common problems
Players reverting to dribbling past opponents with pace rather than using a move. The bonus scoring creates the incentive — trust it to change behaviour over 3+ sessions.
