⏱Session timeline
▦Session blocks
Ball mastery circuit warm-up
10 minFour stations: sole rolls, step-overs, outside cuts, stop-and-go. 2.5 minutes per station, all players moving simultaneously. Coach calls the move, players execute. Heads up.
1v1 channels (both sides)
15 minFour simultaneous 1v1 channels (12m x 4m). Attacker tries to beat defender to end line. Active defender at 80%. Rotate after 4 attempts. Coach: the move must be executed — no dribbling past without a skill move.
9v9 with dribbling bonus
25 minStandard 9v9. Scoring system: goal after a successful 1v1 dribble where the defender was clearly beaten = 3pts. Goal after a combination play (wall pass, overlap) = 2pts. Standard goal = 1pt. Coach tracks and announces bonus goals.
Review
10 minHow many players tried a skill move in the 9v9? Count. How many succeeded? The session should shift the number upward.
◆What you'll need from yourself
Enthusiastic praise for skill move attempts — even failed ones. U12-U13 who are praised for trying will try more.
!Common problems
Players choosing the safe pass instead of the dribble in the bonus game. Remind: 'One brave dribble this half. Just one.' Most will try it.
