Session blocks

1

Two-Player Passing

Run for 8 minutes total, then add the gates progression for the final 4 minutes — two cones 1 yard apart that the pass must travel through. This adds a target and a reason to focus.

2

Passing Triangles

Use the 'easier' Space variation (12-yard triangles) — gives U10s more time on the ball. Run for 12 minutes one direction, switch for 10 minutes, then introduce the second ball for the final 3 minutes only.

3

Free play, two small goals

Set up two small goals 15 yards apart. 4v4 (or 3v3 if numbers low), no positions, no offside. The point is to end on a high — let them play, watch them try the techniques unprompted. No formal drill page.

What you'll need from yourself

Clear demonstrations and high energy. Keep the session moving with minimal queuing, and reinforce one or two key coaching points rather than overloading players with information.

!Common problems

Players standing in queues (set up enough stations to keep everyone active) and the session running too long on one activity (keep blocks tight and move on while engagement is high).
