Session blocks

1

5v2 Rondo — Full Intensity

0 min

5v2 rondo, tight circle (5m diameter). One touch maximum for outer players. When defenders win possession, they swap with whoever made the error. 10 minutes, full intensity. The tight circle and one-touch rule mimics 5-a-side passing lanes. Players who can pass one-touch in the rondo pass one-touch in the match.

2

3v2 Wave Finishing

0 min

Continuous 3v2 waves at full intensity. 5-a-side finishing happens in tight spaces at pace — the 3v2 wave replicates this. First team to 8 goals wins. Losers do 5 press-ups. Maximum 15 minutes — this block should feel like a match.

3

5v5 Transition Game

0 min

Full 5v5 or 6v6 with the transition rule: scoring team immediately counter-attacks 3v2. 30 minutes straight, no coaching from outside. The session is done. Let them play and compete. Roll substitutions every 5 minutes if you have more than 10.

What you'll need from yourself

Clear demonstrations and high energy. Keep the session moving with minimal queuing, and reinforce one or two key coaching points rather than overloading players with information.

!Common problems

Players standing in queues (set up enough stations to keep everyone active) and the session running too long on one activity (keep blocks tight and move on while engagement is high).
