About agility and quickness
Agility is what people often mean when they say 'pace' — it's not pure straight-line speed but the ability to change direction quickly, stop and restart, and react to a stimulus. Most agility work at grassroots is ladder work, which is fine for foot-speed but limited. The drills here mix ladder, cone patterns, and reactive small-sided games — the agility transfers better when the change of direction comes from a real cue (ball movement, partner position) rather than a pre-drilled pattern.
How these agility and quickness drills fit into a session
Most coaches use a agility and quickness drill as the technical block of a session — the 15–25 minute window after the warm-up and before the small-sided game. The drills here range from U10 content through to U18 material; pick the one that matches your squad's age and current developmental focus. Each drill is self-contained, with setup time, run time, equipment list, and coaching cues clearly laid out.
