◆Why this drill works
Change-of-direction agility is the physical quality most predictive of 1v1 success in grassroots football. It's not straight-line pace but reactive quickness that wins battles. This drill develops the quality through pattern work, then applies it in a football-specific context where direction change

▶How to run it
- Mark T-shape with cones (5m straight, 5m left, 5m right). Player starts at base.
- Sprint to top of T, sidestep left, sidestep right, backpedal to base. 3 minutes continuous, rotate groups.
- Add ball: on reaching each cone, player must sole-stop served ball from coach.
- Reactive T: coach holds up left or right hand as player reaches top. Player reacts and sprints in correct direction.
- Football application: 1v1 channel (10×5m). Agility patterns from drill should appear in live play.
