About team pressing

Pressing fails when one player presses and the rest don't. Drilling the trigger — the moment that fires the press — and the cover — what the second-line does — turns pressing from chaotic energy into a structured weapon. The drills here build the pattern in small numbers first (2v2 with trigger), then in 4v4 and 7v7 settings. The discipline to press AND the discipline to drop into shape when the press fails are equally trained.

How these team pressing drills fit into a session

Most coaches use a team pressing drill as the technical block of a session — the 15–25 minute window after the warm-up and before the small-sided game. The drills here range from U13 content through to U18 material; pick the one that matches your squad's age and current developmental focus. Each drill is self-contained, with setup time, run time, equipment list, and coaching cues clearly laid out.
