How to run it

  1. The keeper makes a save or gathers the ball, then immediately distributes to launch a counter.
  2. Outfield players break quickly to receive and attack the other goal.
  3. The first pass forward is key — fast and accurate to a runner.
  4. Defenders recover, so the counter must be quick and decisive.
  5. Count counters that produce a shot within 6 seconds.

?Frequently asked questions

When does the keeper counter work best?
When the opposition has committed players forward in attack. The moment the keeper gathers, a fast throw to a breaking teammate exploits the space behind their advanced players — before they can recover.
