Toe-Poke Finishing — futsal court view
The one cue that matters
Sharp, stabbing contact through the centre of the ball
◆Why this drill works
The toe-poke (the 'bico') is futsal's signature finish — and it horrifies football coaches. But in futsal's tight space, with no backlift available, the toe-poke generates surprising power and beats the goalkeeper before they can set. It's the most effective finish in the game. Teach it properly rather than coaching it out.

▶How to run it
- Players line up at the edge of the penalty area, balls fed in by the coach or a server.
- Receive, take one touch to set, and finish with a firm toe-poke — the toe driving through the centre of the ball.
- No big backlift — the power comes from a sharp, stabbing contact, which is why it's so quick.
- Progress: finish first-time from a rolled pass, no setting touch.
- Add a passive keeper. The toe-poke's speed should beat them before they can dive.

?Frequently asked questions
Isn't the toe-poke bad technique?
In football, often yes. In futsal, no — it's a specialist finish. The tight space means there's rarely room for a proper strike, and the toe-poke's lack of backlift makes it the quickest way to beat a keeper who's right on top of you.
