Why this drill works

The futsal keeper comes out aggressively to narrow the angle — which leaves the space above and behind them. The chip (or dink) over the advancing keeper is a high-value finish that punishes a keeper who rushes. This drill trains the touch and the decision.

How to run it

  1. A player drives at a keeper who comes out to narrow the angle.
  2. As the keeper commits, the attacker chips the ball over them into the goal.
  3. Train the soft, lifted contact under the ball.
  4. Vary the keeper's timing so the attacker reads when the chip is on.
  5. Mix with toe-poke finishes so attackers choose the right solution.

?Frequently asked questions

When should you chip rather than shoot?
When the keeper rushes out and commits low to narrow the angle. That's when the space opens above them. If the keeper stays back, a chip is the wrong choice — toe-poke or place it instead.
