Why this drill works

Futsal chances come and go in a flash, often from tight angles where there's no time to set the ball. First-time finishing from difficult positions is a core futsal skill. This drill trains converting half-chances quickly before the keeper sets.

How to run it

  1. Server feeds balls at various angles to a finisher near the penalty area.
  2. The finisher must shoot first-time — no controlling touch.
  3. Vary the service: low, bouncing, across the body — replicating real futsal chances.
  4. Progress: tighten the angles so finishes come from near the byline.
  5. Add a keeper. The first-time finish must beat them at their near post or squeeze inside the far.

?Frequently asked questions

Why first-time rather than control and finish?
On a small court the defender and keeper close space almost instantly. A controlling touch usually means the chance is gone. Futsal finishing is about converting quickly, often first-time.
