Sole Pull-Push — futsal court view
The one cue that matters
Smooth continuous rhythm between the pull and the push
◆Why this drill works
The pull-push (drag the ball back with the sole, then push it forward with the laces or inside) is the engine of futsal close control. It lets a player change direction instantly and protect the ball in a phone box of space. Building it early means it becomes automatic by the time players face real pressure.

▶How to run it
- Each player with a ball. Pull the ball back with the sole, then push it forward — a continuous rhythm.
- Build the rhythm slowly, then increase pace. Keep the ball close throughout.
- Add a turn: pull back, then push the ball out to the side and follow it.
- Pairs: one player mirrors the other's pull-push movements, building control under a visual distraction.
- Finish in a small grid: players pull-push around the area, avoiding each other, never losing the ball.

?Frequently asked questions
What age can players start this?
U9 for the basic rhythm. Younger players can attempt the sole roll first; the pull-push adds a second movement that needs slightly more coordination.
