◆Why this drill works
Most U11–U13 goalkeepers default to one distribution method — usually a punt — regardless of the situation. A rolled ball to a defender 8m away is more accurate than a kicked ball 40m to a contested header. This drill drills the three distribution types and the situations each fits, building the decision habit alongside the technique.

▶How to run it
- PHASE 1 — ROLL (3 reps each side): GK rolls the ball with one hand to SHORT target. Defender receives and passes back. Underhand roll, inside-of-wrist motion. Accurate, fast, low-risk.
- PHASE 2 — THROW (3 reps each side): GK throws the ball overarm to MID target. Step forward with the opposite leg. Receiver controls and returns.
- PHASE 3 — PUNT (3 reps): GK drops the ball from chest height and punts to LONG target. Contact as the ball falls to waist height. Receiver heads or controls and returns.
- PHASE 4 — COACH CALLS (8 reps): coach calls 'SHORT', 'MID', or 'LONG' as GK picks up the ball. GK must execute the correct distribution type within 4 seconds.
- Track: how many distributions reach their target cleanly? Target 7/8 in Phase 4 by the end of the drill.
